Orchestra
An all-age group of musicians who practise weekly during school terms in Room 1 on Tuesday evenings from 8.00 to 9.45pm. Sacred music is used in church services and music used at functions in the wider community includes classical, light classics and pieces from musicals and films. In 1996, the orchestra presented seventeen performances, the highest annual total in their seventeen year history. Membership is open to all keen instrumentalists who enjoy group playing and providing music for the pleasure of others.
In a recent report, the leader wrote “While we have enjoyed membership stability for some years, there are vacancies or gaps in the team we very much wish to fill. My request to the Glen Waverley congregation and beyond is to help us recruit some more players, especially for these instruments: violin, viola, cello. trumpet or cornet, bassoon, trombone or tuba. We have always been an all-age group, and suitable, interested players of any age are invited to join.”
