Our Guest Speaker is Sarah Duetscher!
Sarah is Director of Uber and spends her time speaking and training churches, organisations and ministries in youth culture and contemporary mission. Sarah is a respected youth speaker and has a particular passion for training Gen Y youth. She is known for her unique female voice and insight into the issues impacting youth, mission and churches.
Sarah has spent many years equipping and empowering youth ministries to run local mission in the community and has a particular passion for discipleship – helping young people discover personally and intimately the active life of Jesus Christ and what he means for today.

We will be having a Guest Preacher: Ross Langmead, who is a Baptist Minister, is currently the Dean of Whitley College & a gifted hymn writer and musician.
Following the worship there will be a discussion time at 11:45.

Trivia Night! 22nd May, we are having a fundraising night for MIA (Kenyan orphanage) it’s looking at the different generations & asking questionsof each, so the more age groups covered on your table the better you’ll go!

Combined Service 10am Sunday: 30th May – Guest speaker

International Dinner 24th July, a family feast, complete with entertainment. TBA

Anniversary service: 20th June, 10am

7pm Sunday nights are our youth & young adult worship services.

My name is Debbie Davey and I am currently working 8 hours per week as a Children and Families Coordinator at GWUC. Sadly Carolyn Blakemore resigned from this position at the end of last year which means I am trying to fill some of her amazing shoes! The good new is that the Blakemore family is still around GWUC even though Gavin has now commenced work as a Minister of Deacon at Hotham Mission

So what’s been happening?

Our main focus this term has been on keeping 4.30pm worship going well and liaising with and supporting the other children’s ministries in the church where possible.
· 4.30PM WORSHIP -
During the term we have had some great times of worship and teaching for adults and children. The term ended on a high last Sunday with a big Easter egg hunt.
The 4.30pm service is a worship service especially for children and their families. The format is as follows:
4.30 – 5.00: Worship service
5.00 – 5.45: Bubbles, Splash, Xtreme and Grid – kids church classes for 2 year olds to early high school. An adult discussion group runs at the same time which often focuses around the Bible reading for the day.
5.45 – 6.00: All together time
6.00 – 7.00: Shared dinner ($2 per person)

NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO 4.30PM WORSHIP FOR THE FIRST TWO SUNDAYS OF THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.
4.30 PM RESUMES ON SUNDAY 11TH APRIL WITH A FAMILY BBQ AND WORSHIP AT JELLS PARK – more details to follow.

UTHIES–Every second Friday
Uthies is a youth group for grade 5 and 6 children that runs from 5.30-7pm every second Friday night. The last one for this term is this Friday 26th March. These nights are heaps of fun and tea is provided for $2.

PLAYGROUPS
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning – Wednesday still has vacancies and I know Kaye McKinnon is still looking for more hosts and hostesses to help.

AN EASTER CAROL (Children’s video) – This great movie will be playing at community Hub on Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th March 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30 pm.

The Church is having a second hand book sale on the 13th March, so if you have books you’d like to pass on bring them by or if you’re into expanding your library feel free to come buy.

S.Y.G is coming around again this June long weekend 11th -14th! And it wouldn’t be an SYG without our happy little campers! Start asking friends now & lets make this year our biggest yet! ($130 approx)

GWUC Camp -  we’re looking to confirm & camp site for early August. This weekend is always a treat with loads of fun.

Turn It Up – The National Christian Youth Convention is on again this year & is being held at the Gold Coast 29th Dec – 4th Jan. It is run by the Uniting church National body, the last one was in Melb. Let me know if u want to come.

Kenya Trip 09:

The rest of the group from GWUC have now safely arrived in Kenya and joined Nikki Mann and Diane Greenwood who have been in Kenya for the past two weeks. They are having an interesting time serving people through a mission group called Mission in Action. Mission in Action (MIA) is an organisation that supports the children at Nakuru Baby Orphanage.
